In Suikoden 2, there is no predetermined default name for your army unit. Instead, you are given the option to choose any name you want when the time comes.

You Can Choose A Unit Name Other Than What Jowy Suggests

When you are prompted to name your unit, Jowy will suggest some unit names such as Orange Unit or Scarlet Unit but you are not required to accept it. You can enter any name of your choice.

When Do You Choose Your Unit Name?

Before Your First Army Battle

You will be asked to name your unit before your first army battle, which takes place early in the game when you begin leading a small resistance force.

While this is not a full-scale army battle, it marks the first instance where you command troops, making it the moment your unit officially receives its name.
