How to Transfer Save Data

Progress Suikoden 1 Until Gregminster

Players will need to progress to the final dungeon of Suikoden 1, Gregminster Castle, to be eligible for data transfer. There is no other requirement for transferring your save data.

Start New Game and Load Saved Data

If you have an eligible save file in Suikoden 1, players will automatically be given an option to load their save file from Suikoden 1 when starting a new game in Suikoden 2. This is the only time players can transfer their data over.

The recruitment sidequest for the Hero of Suikoden 1 only activates after transferring your data over to Suikoden 2. McDohl comes with his signature Soul Eater rune, making him one of the best characters for your party.

Bonuses for Returning Characters

Access to Special Stew Recipe

Players who transfer their Suikoden 1 save data with all 108 characters recruited to Suikoden 2 will gain access to Recipe 39: Special Stew in their Suikoden 2 run.

To obtain the recipe, you need to recruit the Hero of Suikoden 1 first before attempting the cooking battle with Lester. Completing the battle first will lock you out of accessing the recipe.

Stallion	At Castle Level 2, players can recruit Stallion by challenging him to a race in Radat. This only becomes available after having ran away or escaped battles 50 times.
Clive	Players can recruit Clive by speaking to Elza in Muse City. Take the packages from her and she and Clive will duel as you leave. Exit the town and take a boat, then travel to South Window and speak to Clive.
Jeane	At Castle Level 2, players can recruit Jeane by speaking with her in the Rune Shop at Two River City after the Greenhill quest line.

Humphrey Mintz	Players can recruit Humphrey Mintz by speaking to him at the Inn in Highway Village. Spend the night there, then leave and watch the cutscene. Then, return to Humphrey and accept the quest to help him on Mt. Rakutei.

Tir McDohl	Tir McDohl becomes accessible to players if they have save data from the last save point in Gregminster in Suikoden 1. Players can recruit Tir McDohl by speaking to Koh in Banner Village after defeating Luca Blight. Agree to Koh's quest, and speak to Gremio or Ellie. After that, agree to save Koh and finish the quest. Mcdohl can be found in Gregminster available to recruit.
