Whacking Moles

Suikoden II - Whacking Moles

As in the real-life version of Whack-A-Mole, you must hit moles with a hammer before they hide from the holes in the ground. There is a time limit of 60 seconds.

Each hole is mapped to button a on your directional movements or your buttons. The left side uses the analog stick, except the right button, while the right side uses the buttons, except the Y or Square button.

When a mole appears, hit the corresponding button to whack it.

Missing a mole or hitting a Woodchuck gets a penalty. In most modes, taking 3 misses will end the game.

Types of Moles

  • Regular Mole - A brown mole that moves at moderate speed.
  • Fast Mole - A green-colored mole that is very fast.
  • Slow Mole - A dark brown mole that moves more slowly than the Regular Mole.
  • Woodchuck - An ally. Do not hit Woodchucks!

Different kinds of moles will emerge from the holes, based on their speed and the difficulty setting.

Whack-A-Mole Difficulty Settings

  • Beginner Mode - Only Regular and Slow Moles. 3-penalty limit.
  • Regular Mode - All 4 Mole types appear. 3-penalty limit.
  • Hard Mode - Same as regular mode, but the screen will rotate to confuse you. 3-penalty limit.
  • Ultimate Mode - Only Regular and Slow Moles and Woodchucks appear, with screen rotation. No time limit. 1-penalty limit.

Whack-A-Mole has four difficulty settings that modify the types of moles that appear and add other factors. Beating each mode gives different rewards.

Whack-A-Mole Minigame Tips

Keep Calm

Suikoden II - Keep Calm While Waiting for Moles

Avoid panicking so you don't press the wrong button or miss. The moles usually move fast enough to intercept if you focus.

Keep an Eye on Fast Moles

Suikoden II - Prioritize Fast Moles

Fast Moles appear and disappear very quickly. Hit them first to avoid taking a penalty on time. Slow and Regular moles can be hit after.
