Plot Events May Change Your Party

Even if your party is not at the base, you might need to change members due to story events. If you know a character will leave your party, you should change their items and equipment before it happens.

How to Choose Your Formation

Consider the Range and Strength of a Character's Weapon

Party Formation
A party consists of 6 people: 3 in the front line and 3 in the back line. Always check a character's weapon range and damage resistance when deciding to put them in the front or at the rear.

Put Close Range Characters in the Front Line

Range Notation Range Explanation
S Short Range Can only attack in the front line and target enemies in the front line
M Medium Range Can attack in the front line or rear line and target enemies in the front line
L Long Range Can attack in the front line or rear line and target enemies in the front line or the rear line

In Suikoden, there is a concept of range. A character can only attack enemies in specific positions.

For example, characters with short range weapons need to be placed in the front line, because they will not be able to attack if they are placed in the rear.

Position Characters with High Defense in the Front Line

Since the front line is more likely to be targeted by enemies, it is recommended to place durable characters there. Conversely, characters who are weak against attacks and have healing abilities should be in the rear line.
