Suikoden 2 HD Remaster has four endings which depend on your choices throughout the story and if you have recruited all characters.
During the war in Tinto, Nanami will ask you to stop fighting and run away from the war. If you agree and leave with her, your companions will attempt to dissuade you as you make your escape but you can keep refusing to achieve the bad ending.
What Happens If You Run Away With Nanami?
After defeating the final boss, accept the proposal to continue leading the army at the Great Hall to achieve the standard ending.
For the alternate ending, reject the proposal at the Great Hall after defeating the final boss. Afterwhich, head to Tenzan Pass and defeat Jowy in a duel twice.

Best Ending Conditions |
---|
|
The most important condition to get the best ending is recruiting all 108 characters before the battle of Rockaxe. This will open up the options you'll need to get the best ending.
Aside from recruiting them, you'll also need to keep them alive until the end and prevent any permanent deaths from army battles.
List of All Characters and Recruitment Guide
You must respond to Nanami quickly when she intervenes between you and Lord Gorudo at Rockaxe Castle. You can choose either dialogue option, as it doesn't have any effect. Also make sure to equip Nanami with head and body armor with high defenses before the boss fight with Lord Gorudo.
Lord Gorudo Boss Fight and How to Beat
After defeating the final boss, go to Tenzan Pass and refuse to fight Jowy in the duel. The duel will still take place anyway.
During the duel, choose to only defend yourself at all times and never use the attack action. Likewise, you must repeatedly reject the rune being offered to you during the fight.
Tips for the Best Ending |
---|
|
Always try to equip Nanami with the best armor available to prepare her for the final stages of the story. She will play a key role for the final battle so it's best to keep her equipped with the right runes and equipment.
The timed options for Nanami that appear before battling Gorudo will disappear after about a second, so it is recommended keep tapping the interact button to have better chances of quickly selecting an option before it disappears.
It doesn't matter which option you choose, as choosing either dialogue option won't prevent you from getting the best ending.
Recruited characters have a chance to permanently die when participating in Army Battles so you should always save right before engaging in one. Having characters die will prevent you from achieving the best ending.
The chance for characters to die results from choosing the wrong command and losing a turn. Make use of Ninjas and Thieves to predict enemy actions during army battles so you can choose the right commands.
There are some recruitable characters you may miss while playing through the game. Check everything you can do before continuing with the story to avoid missing out on some important recruits.
All Missables and Points of No Return
All endings have a unique image displayed at the end of each scenario's finale. If you want to see all the images for all the endings, it is recommended to have multiple save data for each ending's playthroughs.
