How to Trade

Buy and Sell Trade Items at Trading Posts

Suikoden II - Buy and Sell Trade Items at Trading Posts

Trading in Suikoden 2 is as simple as buying items from the Trading Post and selling them at another Trading Post. Items from the trading post can only be brought and sold in another trading post.

Trading can be done by Chapter 4, before you establish a Trading Post in your Headquarters.

The first Trading Post you will see in the game is in South Window City during Chapter 4. The nearest place to complete a trade is the Trading Post in Kobold Village, which you can visit as early as Chapter 5.

Trading General Tips

Trading General Tips

Trade Early to Recruit Gordon Quickly

Gordon requires that you make at least 50000 Potch from selling trade items at Trading Posts. Consider making a few trades early so you can hit the threshold before Chapter 7.

If you wait to try trading before reaching Gregminster, it might take longer for you to make the necessary profit to recruit Gordon.

Take Note of Trader Dialogue

When you talk the NPC in the Trading Post, their dialogue gives a hint on what they are selling and what they want to buy.

Note this so that when you visit another trading post, they may have what another post is looking for.

Buy Seasonings from Trading Posts

Suikoden II - Pick Up Cooking Condiments from Trading Posts.png

While not directly related to your trade profits, you can improve your chances in the Cooking Minigame and expand your Restaurant's menuby purchasing condiments from Trading Posts.

Buy at least one of each of the following goods and use them in the Restaurant or the Cooking Minigame. Then, you place them in your Warehouse and sell extra copies to a Trading Post.

Prices Fluctuate Randomly

Suikoden II - Prices Fluctuate Randomly

Each Trading Spot has its own average price each item. However, their buy and sell prices will change regularly. These two prices are added for the item's total Potch value.

If a price somewhere seems too low to make a profit, come back to the Trading Post after some in-game time.

You may also save your game before entering the Trading Post, if you have not visited it for some time, and reload if the prices are unsatisfactory.

Save Time with the Blinking Mirror

The Blinking Mirror is one of the most useful items in the game for trading, as it allows you to move instantly to any location you've visited before. You can use it to save time during trading runs.
