Prepare to Fight Him Three Times

Luca Blight is the toughest boss in Suikoden 2, so much so that he might even be tougher to fight than the actual final boss!

Before you face him, you will be asked to form three parties or units. Make sure you've recruited all the characters you can get before this point, as some of them will be helpfun in taking down mad prince of Highland.

Best Party and Team Composition

Form Parties With Strong Unite Attacks

Try to put together characters that have strong Unite Attacks in the front row to maximize your damage output.

For instance, in the first party led by Filk, have Camus and Miklotov in your front line. That way, Camus and Mikolotov can do the Knight Attack, and all three of them can do the Fancy Lad Attack, dealing lots of damage to Luca.

Have Two to Three Healers Per Team

Luca attacks three times per turn, with powerful single attacks followed by a multi-target attack that can cut down your entire front row or one of your columns.

That is why having 2-3 magic casters equipped with the Water, Flowing, or Wind Runes is almost essential to have in all of the three parties you will be forming. Use spells like Rain of Kindness to heal the entire party at once, and do spot healing if necessary.

Use Your Strongest Magic Attacks

Even though Luca Blight is resistant to all magic, that doesn't mean he's invulnerable to them. Have your team members equip runes like the Lightning Rune, Resurrection Rune, Earth Rune, Blue Gate Rune, and Cyclone Rune and others to use AoE attacks that will damage not only Luca, but all the soldiers he surrounds himself with almost every battle.

Put Up Defenses with Protection Spells

To protect yourself from Luca's magic-imbued attacks, use Protection Mist or Silent Lake (though the latter prevents all magic use, so use it only when you think you need to).

Don't forget to also buy scrolls that unleash powerful spells like The Shredding for some of your characters that have healing or resurrection magic. This way, they can deal massive damage to Luca whenever they don't need to heal anybody.

Sharpen Your Weapons, Get the Best Armor

Since this is the toughest fight in the game, it's only proper for you to put in the effort to sharpen the weapons of everyone who will be involved in the fight, as well as get them good armor like the Dragon Armor and other items like the Guard Ring. You may need to raise a good amount of Potch to do this.

Best Party and Runes to Beat Luca Blight

First Party

Camus Front Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: N/A • Focus on using his unite attack with Mikolotov. If either one of them is imbalanced, use a spell scroll, use a rune, or do a normal attack.
Meg Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Water Rune • Have her cast Protect Mist on the first turn. • Use her as a healer and heal allies as needed.
Tai Ho Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Resurrection Rune • Resurrect allies as needed, though if not, use the Charm Arrow spell to deal AoE damage.
Eilie Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Lightning Rune • Use similar to Flik and spam lightning magic.

Since Filk is the leader of the first attack party, it's only fitting to pair him up with Mikolotov and Camus to take advantage of their Fancy Lad Unite Attack. Meg and Tai Ho should act as healers/secondary attackers, while Eilie is a secondary spellcaster with a Lightning Rune.

Once you've taken off 2000 HP or more from Luca, he'll move on to the next party.

Shin Front Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Spider Slay Rune • His Spider Slay rune's attack can deal great damage to Luca.
Gadget Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: N/A • Have him help take out Luca's soldiers first before focusing on Luca himself.
Stallion Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: N/A • Use his normal attacks.
Kinnison Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Water Rune • Use as the healer of the party. Cast Protect Mist on the first turn.

Viktor, Shiro, and Shin could focus on attacking Luca, while Gadget can deal with his soldiers. Stallion's also a good choice for regular ranged attacks, and Kinnison should be the main healer for this party. Don't forget to use Shiro and Kinnison's Unite Attack.

Just like the previous battle, once 2000 HP has been shaved off Luca's life, he'll move on to the third and last party.

Hero Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Bright Shield Rune, Earth Rune • Have him use Earthquake to deal AoE Damage. • Use the Family Attack with Nanami when it's available. • Use the Bright Shield Rune if you need to heal all of your allies.
Nanami Back Row	40 - 45	Best Runes: Water Rune • Use Nanami as a healer. • Cast Protect Mist at the very first turn. • Do the family attack with the Hero once it becomes available.

The final team that will face Luca. Have Luc use the spells from the Pale Gate Rune like Pale Palace, the Hero use Earthquake, then have Humphrey and Valeria do normal attacks. Nanami and Rina should hang back and heal allies as needed.
