The Rune Shop is where you can remove, equip, and manage your inventory of Runes in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster. Read on to learn how to use and unlock the Rune Shop, its location, and what to do at a rune shop!

How to Unlock the Rune Shop

1. Recruit Jeane
2. Locate Rune Shop in the Headquarters Shop Row
3. Purchase Runes

Recruit Jeane After Greenhill Questline

Chapter Unlocked	▶︎ Chapter 5
Location	Two River City

At Castle Level 2, players can recruit Jeane by speaking with her in the Rune Shop at Two River City after the Greenhill quest line. Once Jeane moves into the Headquarters, the Rune Shop will open.

The Rune Shop is found by going north from the entrance, past the east side of the tavern and storehouse and is identifiable by a sign with a Rune Orb on it.

The Armor Shop, Blacksmith, Trading Post, and Scroll Maker will be located in this alley once they open as well.

Remove and Attach Runes for You Entire Army

At the headquarters’ Rune Shop, you can attach and remove runes not just from your active party, but from all playable recruits in your castle!

Towns With Rune Shops

Other than the Headquarters, there are Rune Shops located in the major cities, as well as in specific towns outside the City-State territory, like Gregminster in the Toran Republic and Sajah in Highland.

The White Deer Inn also temporarily hosts a Rune Master, but they disappear after Chapter 3.

What To Do at the Rune Shop

Buy Runes

You can buy runes at the Rune Shop to equip to your characters. The Headquarters Rune Shop inventory is based on the Rune Shops you visit throughout the world, and grows as you explore.

Attach Runes

Using the Rune Shop allows you to equip Runes to your characters. Do keep in mind that the Rune Orbs must be in the Party Items inventory to be equipped, so withdraw them from the storehouse before going to the Rune Shop.

Remove Runes

At the Rune Shop, you can remove Runes which, once unequipped, will be stored in your character's inventory as a Rune Orb.

Remove and Attach Weapon Runes at the Blacksmith

Suikoden 2 allows players to attach runes directly to a character's weapon to add new effects. This must be done at the Blacksmith using the Embed function, and not at the Rune Shop.

Character-Specific Runes cannot be removed

The hero's Bright Shield and some runes belonging to certain characters are character-exclusive Runes that cannot be removed. If those runes occupy one of a character's rune slots, that slot cannot have a different rune equipped.

Character-Exclusive Runes Cannot be Removed

There are certain Runes that are equipped to particular characters, and cannot be removed even though they are not character-exclusive Runes. These runes will permanently occupy that character's rune slot.
