How to Unlock Cooking Minigame

Recruit Hai Yo

Once the castle upgrades to Level 2, Hai Yo will automatically appear in the restaurant area of your Headquarters where you can recruit him immediately.

He will be your head chef and facilitate the restaurant in your castle. You can also start playing the cooking minigame upon his recruit.

Create A Menu

Occasionally, a challenger will appear and challenge Hai Yo to a duel. When this happens, you will need to prepare a three-course meal consisting of an appetizer, main dish, and dessert for a randomized group of judges.

You can only use recipes that you have collected throughout the game, so gathering more recipes gives you better options for winning.

Judges Score Your Menu

After selecting your dishes, the cook-off begins. Hai Yo and his opponent will prepare their meals. Then, each judges will taste each course and assign a score between 1 to 5.

The more a judge enjoys your meal, the higher the score you receive . The contestant with the highest total score wins the battle.

Winning and Losing

Winning cook-offs unlocks new recipes. As you progress, stronger opponents will challenge you.

Save Before Cook Offs

If you lose, there are no major consequences, and you can always try again later. However, some battles involve story events, so it’s recommended to save before competing to prevent unwanted changes in your playthrough.

If you want to avoid losing rare ingredients and recipes, it is also recommended to save before engaging in cooking battles. Before a cook-off begins, you can decline to start and save.

Once the Cook Off Begins, the Next Battle Will Happen After Sometime

The Cook Off consists of 12 rounds. The next round will be around an in-game hour after you finish one. If you want to speedrun the Cook Off event, wait an hour before heading to the restaurant.

Cook Offs Will Stop Early if You Lose the 4th, 5th, 6th, or 8th Round

If you lose during the 4th round, 5th round, 6th round, or 8th round, the Cook Off will end and you cannot compete in the succeeding rounds.

Make Judges' Preferred Dishes

When the host introduces the judges, take note of their prefrences, if any. A sure fire way to win cooking battles is to choose dishes that suits most of the judges' tastes.

Some judges have an equal preference for all dishes like Freed Y and Bolgan. Alternatively, Luc dislikes all dishes.

Make Correct Dishes for Each Meal Course

In a cooking battle, it is also important to prepare the correct dishes for the three meal courses: Appetizer, Main Course, and Dessert.

So make sure to serve an appetizer dish for the Appetizer, a main dish for the Main Course, and a dessert dish for the Dessert.

Choosing a condiment will also change the flavor of the dish, so try to experiment with different combinations!

You can press B after choosing a combination of a recipe and a condiment if you do not think it is good enough.

Collect Recipes

Collect as many recipes as possible to have a wider selection of dishes. Recipes can be found in item drops from enemies, Rare Finds in certain Item Shops, and winning cook-offs.
