Defeat Jowy or Defend Against All His Attacks Get All 108 Characters and Reject His Rune for the Good Ending

Defeat Jowy or Defend Against All His Attacks

The ending you will get from this duel first depends on whether you defeat Jowy or defend against all of his attacks. If you defeat Jowy, one of the game's three endings will be unlocked.

If you defend through all of his attacks, however, there will come a point where he will stop attacking you. This will lead you to a different ending.

Get All 108 Characters and Reject His Rune for the Good Ending

To get this different ending, however, you will need to get all 108 characters in Suikoden 2 and keep rejecting his offers when he tries to hand over the Black Sword Rune.

Dueling Tips

Choose the Best Response

Attack	If your enemy is defending himself, this move deals damage. But if you Attack while your enemy does a Special Attack, you will lose a huge amount of HP.
Defend	If your enemy is doing a Special Attack, your character will not receive any damage and the attacker will get damaged instead.
Special Attack	If you do a Special Attack while your enemy is about to do an Attack, it will deal a huge amount of damage. If your enemy is defending, however, you will get damaged instead.

Duel battles rely on the duel triangle seen above. Attack beats Defense, Defense beats Special Attack, and Special Attack beats Attack. Players will win duel battles by predicting your enemy's actions and counteracting them.
