Should You Kill Kraze?

Either Choice Doesn't Affect the Story

After you and Lepant rescue Eileen from Kraze's clutches in Kouan, you are given a choice when deciding what to do with him.

You can choose to Execute Kraze or Let him go. In both cases, your choice does not affect the story. Kraze leaves the story entirely, and never returns again, nor is he referenced by future dialog or cutscenes.

Therefore, you can make your choice is entirely based on your sense of mercy for the fallen Commander of the Imperial Guard.

Characters React to Your Choice

The only change in the game is the reaction of your party during the scene. If you choose to execute Kraze, the screen fades to black and Kraze disappears.

If you choose to spare Kraze, Kraze runs out of the room. Gremio and Cleo comment on your merciful choice.

Can You Recruit Kraze?

Kraze Is Not A Recruitable Character

While Suikoden 1 contains many recruitable characters, Kraze is not one of them. He is not playable in any way and exists in the game purely as an antagonistic NPC.

After his defeat in Kouan, Kraze never appears again in any form. Even his ultimate fate is left ambiguous, thanks to your ability to decide on it.

Other Imperial Characters can be Recruited

While Kraze is a high-ranking Imperial Commander that has no future in the Liberation Army, other major Imperials do join up.

Four of the Five Great Generals can be recruited: Kasim Hazil, Milich Oppenheimer, Sonya Shulen, and Kwanda Rosman are all Stars of Destiny.

Who is Kraze?

Commander of the Imperial Guard

Kraze Miles is the Commander of the Imperial Guard, which protects the capital of Gregminster and provides direct protection to Emperor Barbarossa.

The Hero, alongside Gremio, Pahn, and Cleo, joins the Imperial Guard with Kraze as his first commander. Kraze also gives the Hero his first assignments, including visiting Leknaat on Magician's Island and collecting taxes in Rockland.
