You can level up your characters before progressing to each part of the main story to avoid easy defeat later on in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster. Discover some early game tips and know what to do when you can't win battles during the early game.
Early Game Tips |
---|
|
In the early game, it’s best to level up your characters to at least Level 5 before progressing through the story. You can achieve this by killing Furballs, who are common and easy-to-defeat.
Besides making your party stronger, being at a high level lets you use "Let Go" for guaranteed escapes against lower levelled enemies.
As soon as you can leave Gregminster, you can go to Sarady to acquire one of two special runes. Depending on whether you visit alone or with Ted, you’ll receive either a Fortune Rune, which doubles EXP gains, or a Prosperity Rune, which doubles Potch from battles.
You can only get one of these runes, so make sure to plan and prepare accordingly.
Step by Step Guide | |
---|---|
1 | Fortune Rune: Go solo and farm Furballs to reach Level 5. Prosperity Rune: Recruit Ted and farm Furballs to reach Level 5. |
2 | Head west from the bridge southwest of Gregminster and make your way toward Mt. Tigerwolf to the north. |
3 | Travel through Mt. Tigerwolf, avoiding enemies and treasure chests. |
4 | Exit Mt. Tigerwolf and proceed north to Sarady. |
5 | Visit the top-right house in Sarady and speak to the man there to receive your Rune. |
When you obtain the Fire Rune from the Magician's Tower, equip it on Cleo since she has the highest Magic stat in the early game. To equip the Rune, visit a Rune Shop and talk to the shopkeep to do so.
How to Get Fire Rune and Effects
Once you reach Lenankamp, you can enhance your weapons at the Blacksmith to increase their power. Prioritize doing this for your physical attackers, since magic users, like Cleo, will be casting spells more often than using their weapon.
Blacksmith Guide: How to Unlock and Use
Visit the armor shop in town to purchase and equip better armor for your characters. Upgrading their defense will make them more resilient in battles, reducing the risk of defeat from enemy attacks.
This skill is unlocked for the Hero after a certain point in the story. This can be used to instantly kill any non-boss enemies, letting you breeze through random battles.
Later on, an upgraded version of this spell will be unlocked that can instantly kill entire groups of non-boss foes.
How to Get Soul Eater and Effects
If you encounter enemies that are too strong for your current level, running away is always an option. If your party is at a high enough level, the "Let Go" option appears, ending the battle without combat.
You can also attempt to flee normally, or use the Bribe option to guarantee escape by spending Potch.
Another strategy is to ensure every character is equipped with medicines purchased from item shops. Each medicine can restore 100 HP and can be used up to six times, helping your team survive challenging battles.
