The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Gameplay

Image

Bethesda proudly showcased gameplay from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, featuring many of the same mechanics and systems as the original title. Its trademark gritty, measured combat, for example, remains intact, along with memorable features such as the lockpicking system.

Players still start the game by choosing among among the game's many races, each with distinct abilities and specialties, and customize their appearance and skills. Character progression is achieved by leveling up skills through use, which in turn increases attributes and unlocks new abilities. For example, advancing in melee combat skills can unlock power attacks, while improving Sneak skills helps players perform actions without being detected by NPCs.

Combat in Oblivion is real-time and can be experienced from either a first or third-person perspective. Players can engage in melee combat using swords, axes, or maces, with the ability to block attacks actively using a shield or weapon. Successful blocks can stagger enemies,

Ranged combat is done with the use of bows, and magic users have access to a wide array of spells across various schools, such as Destruction (offensive) and Restoration (defensive). Players can also make use of stealth to sneak into places, pick locks, and perform sneak attacks.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Story

Image

Oblivion unfolds in the province of Cyrodiil during the Third Era, year 433. Emperor Uriel Septim VII and his heirs have just been assassinated. This event precipitates a crisis, as Oblivion Gates begin to open across the land. Before the Emperor’s death, however, he entrusts the Amulet of Kings to the protagonist, a former prisoner who becomes entangled in efforts to restore order by aiding the Blades, the Emperor’s guardians, in their quest to find a legitimate heir and close the gates.
