First Released in 2006
Oblivion was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games. It was first planned to be released as an Xbox 360 launch title in late 2005. However, due to development delays, the Xbox 360 and PC versions were released in March 2006.
Its mobile version was developed by Superscape and published by Vir2L Studios, which came out in May 2006. Meanwhile, its PlayStation 3 version was released in North America in March 2007, then in Europe in April 2007. There were plans for a PSP version, but it was ultimately cancelled. Multiple bundled releases were also made, pairing Oblivion with games such as Fallout 3 and BioShock.
Last week, leaked images circulated online that reportedly came from developer Virtuos’ website. These images include promotional art for Oblivion and photos from the original game, comparing it to the upcoming remastered one. Some information also came to light, as the game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass), and PC.
There are also speculations for a Deluxe Edition, which includes bonus weapons and a horse armor DLC pack. However, these remain rumors as Bethesda has yet to announce anything regarding the game. Fans can tune in to Bethesda’s upcoming livestream for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’s official reveal.
