RuneScape: Dragonwilds Gameplay
Supports 1-4 Online Co-Op
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a cooperative survival crafting game. This means that the game focuses on exploration, resource management, and combat within a structured environment. Here, players can go in solo or team up with up to three others to explore the continent of Ashenfall, a setting distinct from the procedurally generated worlds common in the genre. The game has a fixed map layout with approximately 20 hours of content in its early access phase.
Do keep in mind that the game’s difficulty scales with the number of players.
Gather, Craft, Build, Survive
As a survival crafting game, Dragonwilds’ gameplay centers on gathering resources such as wood, stone, and herbs, which are essential for crafting tools, weapons, and building bases. The crafting system requires players to collect specific materials; for instance, Coarse Thread involves obtaining Coarse Animal Fur from wildlife like Kebbits and rats, and then processing it at a Spinning Wheel constructed from Ash Logs, Flax, and Stone. Building mechanics, like the construction of shelters with roofs to house certain crafting stations, adhere to this same philosophy.
Combat
Combat in Dragonwilds adopts straightforward controls; players can attack, block, and strafe. This system includes a parry mechanic that, when timed correctly, can provide a significant advantage in battles. Additionally, survival elements such as hunger, thirst, and fatigue are integral to gameplay. Fatigue, in particular, affects the stamina bar and can only be alleviated by sleeping at night.
However, the game penalizes death by causing players to drop all carried items. Players need to return to the point of death to recover them.
Skill-Based Progression System
A notable feature of Dragonwilds is the integration of Anima, a magical energy that players can harness to perform various tasks. This includes summoning spectral tools for resource collection and repairing equipment, thereby streamlining the gathering process.
The game also has a progression system, which allows players to unlock new spells, crafting recipes, and abilities.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds Story
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set on Ashenfall, a previously unexplored continent within the world of Gielinor. Here, dragons have awakened, and they pose a threat to the land. Players assume the role of adventurers tasked with confronting these dragons, with the ultimate objective being defeating the Dragon Queen.
The continent of Ashenfall is characterized by its infusion of Anima, a potent magical energy that permeates the environment. This energy not only shapes the landscape but also endows adventurers with magical abilities. As players traverse the different regions of Ashenfall, they uncover remnants of ancient civilizations and delve into the mysteries surrounding the dragons’ resurgence.
