Everything We Know About Baldur’s Village
What Is Baldur's Village?
Baldur's Village is a fan-made Stardew Valley mod developed by a team fans consisting of Xun, Kawaner, Yudeling, Haruka, and Sirris. The update is not an official update developed and sanctioned by either of the teams behind Stardew Valley or Baldur's Gate 3. The Baldur's Village mod does not deviate from the core gameplay experience of Stardew Valley, and only adds more characters, areas, events, story cutscenes, and items. Players can still carry out their farming responsibilities regularly, only now with the inclusion of popular Baldur’s Gate 3 characters in their adventures.
This review is not an endorsement, just simply our impressions playing through it. As with many fan-made mods, save file corruptions and other issues may arise from installing them, so player discretion is advised in any attempts to install or remove it.

Baldur's Village Mod Review
Baldur's Village: A Stardew Valley Mod Made With Love, For Love
Baldur’s Village is a fan-made mod expansion for Stardew Valley featuring Baldur’s Gate 3 characters, and it’s about exactly how you’d expect it to be done by fans who love both. The inclusion of everyone’s favorite characters thrust into the rural setting north of Pelican Town is a great idea on paper, and its execution through this mod has the potential to be excellent. It has a great base with the addition of their own village and characters with their own schedules, but unfortunately is still at the initial stages. Therefore, though you can befriend several characters and have a grand welcoming party at the start to get introduced to all characters, there isn’t much else aside from occasionally spotting them as you go about your adventures.
As of writing, only Astarion has a fully-written plotline with triggerable events, as he’s the sole romancable character available. There is no doubt that the mod was made with love, and if the same amount of said love can be continually poured onto the development of the mod, then fans everywhere have nothing to fear and everything to celebrate for as Baldur’s Village becomes fully fleshed out and incorporated into Stardew Valley.
New Areas, New Events, and New Items!
Baldur’s Village adds a myriad of new things taken and inspired by the DnD RPG, such as a considerably large new village up north in the mountain past the forest. Numerous characters have built their own houses and now live in peace. A tavern run by Rolan can be entered where several new foods and drinks with unique effects can be bought. All in all, the mod earnestly adds fan-favorite characters and implements their own lore into the world of Stardew Valley.
However, at times, it can feel barren or empty due to there not being much characters nor interactable objects in a large decorated village. There is also a glaring absence of new weapons, crops, and perhaps even enemies that can be taken from BG3 and adapted into the Stardew Formula.
Plenty of Familiar Faces, Only One Romancable Character (For Now)
Unfortunately, though the mod introduces a handful of people BG3 fans have come to know and love, at present writing, players can only romance one character, Astarion. He is the only one with a full plotline with several heart events that can be triggered as their relationship grows and the players fulfill certain conditions. The style of narrative writing itself that can be experienced admittedly feels like fanfiction specifically made by fans of the character, which is to be expected. It can be glaring at times however, and could be seen as a downside by some, while it can be deemed exemplary by others.
Off to a Great Start, but Still Has A Lot to Grow
As it stands, Baldur’s Village in its current iteration is a great base for what’s to come. It has implemented several areas for potential character events and growth that would intertwine with the player, as well as general events from Baldur’s Gate 3 that could be tied into the world of Stardew. Though it feels unpolished at times with some clear sprite clipping issues, for a small fan-made mod to have such a high-quality in its base state brings much hope for its future.
The expansion’s main crux is in its writing of the character events, where most of the emphasis was clearly focused on the existing Astarion storyline. However, there are also some grammatical and punctuation errors that can be found littered throughout the game’s dialogue. The creators, being mainly of Asian background, had to rely on translators to adapt to English.
Baldur’s Village may very well follow the steps of the original Baldur’s Gate 3, and start out as a beta in progress, until it eventually flourished with the addition of all fleshed out characters, events, areas, items, and romance.
