Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Announcement is Nintendo Japan's Most Liked Tweet
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s announcement on Twitter (X) became Nintendo Japan’s most liked tweet, overshadowing the hype for the Switch 2. After its announcement during the Nintendo Direct on March 27, Tomodachi Life’s announcement tweet received over 400,000 likes on Twitter (X) compared to Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal in January, which only had around 385,000 likes.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a part of a series of life-simulation games that focuses on Nintendo’s digital avatars living on an island. The first game in the series was Tomodachi Collection, which was released exclusively in Japan in 2009 for the Nintendo DS and sold over 100,000 copies in its first week of release. It was later followed by Tomodachi Collection: New Life, which was released on the 3DS in Japan in 2013 and sold over 6.7 million copies, standing as one of the 3DS’s best-selling games. This was then ported to the West as simply Tomodachi Life in 2014.
According to Nintendo, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream lets you "Create your own Mii characters based on yourself, friends, family – anyone! – and watch them live their lives on an island out at sea. Get involved with their relationships and experience all the weird and wonderful ways these Mii characters interact. You may even drop in on their dreams!"
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Adds Ears To Mii Characters
Following its reveal trailer, fans are quick to break down the video and look for interesting things that the game would feature. The trailer has substantial content for fans to get excited about, which includes created Mii characters, classic island locations, Mii interactions, and more. However, one major aspect of the game that fans highlighted was the addition of ears to Mii characters.
This led to various comments regarding this change across all social media sites. One commenter on Twitter (X) hopes that this feature carries over to Switch 2’s Mii character creation. Other comments on Reddit revolved around Miis looking more human now, and the opportunity to add cosmetics such as earrings to their characters. Meanwhile, some wish that this could be optional and revert to its original design, which has no ears.
Regardless, Tomodachi Life looks to have a great start with how much buzz the game generated after its reveal.
