Monster Hunter Wilds’ player count plummets and inches closer to MH World. Read on to learn more about MH Wilds’ decline in player count and the game’s first collaboration.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Player Count Goes Way Down
From Over 1 Million to 40k
Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) has been one of the most popular games to release this year, becoming Capcom’s fastest-selling game. However, it seems that players have calmed down since its successful launch, as the game’s concurrent players have gone way down after 3 months of its release.
As spotted by Monster Hunter YouTuber Zenny, MH Wilds’ concurrent player count has been cut in half starting May, which now comes closer to the series’ much older title, MH World. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds has a 24-hour peak of 41,101 players, inching closer to MH World with 26,479 as of writing.
In comparison, MH Worlds’ third month on Steam saw over 100,000 concurrent players, which surpasses MH Wilds’ third month with around 40,000 concurrent players. Many attribute this downfall to MH Wilds’ lack of endgame content despite its release of Title Update 1. With its second Title Update coming this Summer, the game may rejuvenate its player base with new monsters, events, and more.
MH Wilds x Street Fighter Collab Teased
Another thing that may bring back players to the game is a collaboration with one of Capcom’s popular titles, Street Fighter. In a Twitter (X) post on May 19, Monster Hunter shared an image of a paw mark in the style of Street Fighter 6’s urban aesthetic.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it would not be surprising to have this collaboration as both IPs have already done this in the past with MH World. This collab featured Ryu and Sakura armor sets, paid DLC like Hadoken and Shoryuken gestures, Handler's Chun-Li Costume, and more.
This would mark MH Wilds’ first collab, and fans are excited about how Capcom will handle this crossover event. Furthermore, Monster Hunter has been having numerous collabs with different IPs throughout the series, with the likes of Devil May Cry and Sonic for MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for MH Gen U, Assassin’s Creed and Megaman for MH World, and a whole lot more.
Regardless, many expect MH Wilds’ player base to rise once more with all the things the game has lined up for the rest of the year and the foreseeable future. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information on Monster Hunter Wilds, check out our article below!
