Nintendo Switch 2 Features The New C Button
Functionality Will Be Revealed During the Direct
The long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is coming up right soon this 2025, and with a Direct coming up later today, April 2nd, fans are more than excited to see what’s coming up next. However, Nintendo may have already revealed a few things about the Switch 2 ahead of the upcoming Direct, such as the
Nintendo just released its smartphone app called Nintendo Today that aims to give players the latest news and game info straight from the app. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the app’s listing on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store came with images promoting its features, and that one of the images clearly says "Get updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics and more every day."
Upon closer inspection, the image of the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to show the final version of the entire console, including its newly designed Joycons, and the confirmation of the mysterious C button on the right Joycon.
In the initial Switch 2 teaser revealed in January, the new button underneath the Home button was simply a black square with no writing, and fans were speculating if it was a new social feature or a new sensor. With this final design right on the Nintendo Today app, it is now confirmed that it is a C button. What it actually does, however, will most likely be revealed later on in the Nintendo Direct proper.
Switch 2 Hands-On Gameplay in Nintendo Treehouse Streams
Following the Switch 2 Direct today on April 2nd, Nintendo announced that it will hold two Nintendo Treehouse streams later this week, shortly after the Direct’s conclusion.
Nintendo Treehouse streams showcase the latest games available on the Switch being played and tested by Nintendo employees and developers. Thus, the Treehouse streams this week will most likely feature more gameplay and insights on titles that will make their debut on the new Nintendo handheld.
The first Treehouse stream will commence on April 3, starting at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM BST, while the second stream will take place the day after on April 4th, with the same start times.
Switch 2 Pro Controller May Have Headphone Jack
And that’s not all that's in store for the Nintendo Switch 2—more fans have investigated and spotted a filing from Nintendo for the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regarding the new handheld’s Pro Controller.
In the filing, which has been approved as of writing, it has been suggested that the controller will include a headphone jack, a standard feature for virtually any other controller that has noticeably been absent from most Nintendo hardware. Additionally, it will also keep the support for RFID and Bluetooth.
