There’s new hope for Hollow Knight: Silksong fans as the game’s Steam metadata received a minor update. According to SteamDB, Silksong’s Steam front was updated on March 24 as it has been opted-in for GeForce NOW, making it compatible with NVIDIA’s cloud gaming platform once it is released.
There are also a few changes in the game’s hidden assets and legal information, most notably being listed as copyright Team Cherry 2025 over its original 2019 listing. Although nothing has been confirmed, these changes may point to something Silksong-related event or news happening soon. Players have longed to hear an update about the game and have often flooded comment sections of events like the PlayStation State of Play and Xbox Developer Direct.
With the minor update on Steam and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, fans will once again be expecting something from Silksong.
Silksong Mentioned in Xbox Indies Post Alongside Upcoming Titles
Another announcement that boosted fans’ confidence in Silksong being possibly on the horizon is the game being mentioned in an Xbox Indies Post. On Xbox Wire, ID@Xbox director Guy Richards posted an article on March 18 regarding developers finding more success with Xbox as over $5 billion have been paid to indie developers included in the program.
He went over and explained the success of the program with previous ID@Xbox launches such as Balatro, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Phasmophobia. Richards also mentioned their upcoming lineup of games, which included Silksong. He stated, "Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight: Silksong too!"
Interestingly enough, the release dates of the games mentioned other than Silksong are within this year. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set to be released on April 24, Descenders Next on April 9, and FBC: Firebreak has a 2025 release window. This could mean that Silksong may follow suit based on the release dates of the games in the program, but nothing has been confirmed as of this moment.
First Revealed in February 2019
Team Cherry revealed Silksong in February 2019 as a full-scale sequel to Hollow Knight. According to the developers, it was initially planned to be a DLC, but it became too large and too unique. In 2022, a gameplay trailer was revealed in the Xbox-Bethesda showcase, and Microsoft confirmed that everything shown will be available within the next 12 months.
However, Team Cherry announced in 2023 that Silksong was delayed beyond its initial release window of the 1st half of 2023 but would continue development and give updates as they are nearing its release.
Earlier this year, Team Cherry confirmed that Silksong is real and will release. Team Cherry Marketing and PR Handler Matthew Griffin replied on a Twitter (X) post on January 18 regarding the status of the game. He responded, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This is not much to go on about but fans just want to get a sliver of hope that Silksong still exists.
With the recent news and updates surrounding the game, fans are expecting something Silksong-related to be revealed soon. Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
