REPO developer looks to adjust its difficulty scaling by adding new mechanics every 10 levels. Read on to learn more about the changes coming on the Overcharge mechanic and what the developers have been up to during the game’s open beta.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge Overhaul
REPO recently released an open beta for their upcoming update and received essential fan feedback. One of the features developer Semiwork took notice of was the game’s Overcharge mechanic.
Overcharge allows players to counter enemies by picking them up and throwing them on hard surfaces or away from their team. However, they can’t just do this as they please, as there will be an overcharge meter that, when filled, will make players explode.
Initially, this mechanic was available from the start, but the developers decided to introduce it when players reach level 10. Furthermore, they plan to introduce new difficulty-increasing mechanics every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and beyond), with Overcharge being the first of these scaled challenges.
These new mechanics will also tie in with the game’s lore, as Semiwork stated, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
During the game’s recent open beta, developers from Semiwork joined in random matches and talked with the players about what they think could be improved in the game. According to Semiwork developer Pontus Sundstrom, he was happy to see the players have fun with all the new things they added to the game.
He said, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom added, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
Semiwork looks to continue improving REPO with all the community feedback they received during their open beta. Players can look forward to more things to come in their future updates, as the developers promised to share more soon.
