Pokémon GO is launching the Scattered to the Wind event later this February and has several goodies in store for players. Read on to find out more about the event and what to expect this February 18th to 20th!
Scattered To The Wind Introduces Shiny Scatterbug
Double XP, Increased Shiny Chance, and More!
Pokémon GO reveals details for the upcoming Scattered to the Wind event, set to go live starting February 18th, 10 AM local time to February 20th, 8 PM local time. The event marks the debut of the Shiny versions of the Pokémon Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon into the game. Players who wish to catch a Shiny Scatterbug can pin postcards from Trainers around the globe to be able to encounter the Pokémon with increased chances.
Additionally, players will be able to play with some bonuses during the event period, such as:
⚫︎ Double XP for spinning a Pokéstop
⚫︎ 5x XP for spinning new Pokéstops
⚫︎ Ability to open 40 gifts per day (upped to 60 gifts if the player has the Eggs-pedition Access: February ticket)
⚫︎ Increased chance to encounter Shiny Pidgey
Event-Themed Tasks and Challenges
Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available during the event as well, where players will receive Rare Candy and encounters with event-themed Pokémon upon completion. And that’s not all—an event-themed evolution-focused Collection Challenge will also be up, and those who accomplish this Challenge will receive XP, Stardust, and an encounter with Scyther.
For players willing to shell out some money for more goodies, a Paid Timed Research for $5.00 can be purchased, which gives:
⚫︎ 16,500 Stardust
⚫︎ 3 Rare Candies
⚫︎ An event-themed avatar pose
⚫︎ Encounters with event-themed Pokémon
⚫︎ And more to come!
However, please note that the Timed Research tasks must be completed and claimed before the end of the event on February 20th, 8PM local time else the rewards be forfeited.
Shiny Pokémon Chance UP!
To celebrate the appearance of new Shiny Pokémon, several Pokémon have come out and will also appear more frequently in the wild, namely:
⚫︎ Caterpie
⚫︎ Pidgey
⚫︎ Spearow
⚫︎ Wurmple
⚫︎ Starly
Each of the listed Pokémon has a chance to be Shiny upon encountering, with Pidgey having an extra increased chance of being Shiny.
