Alongside Capcom Spotlight was a Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase ahead of its February 2025 launch! Read on to discover the exciting new and returning monsters, new details about the open beta test, and the full game experience!
Monster Hunter Wilds Celebrates Upcoming Release with New Monsters to Hunt
A New Trailer Showcased!
To kick off the showcase, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto introduced a chilling new location in the trailer: Ice Shard Cliffs, a snowy, rocky terrain home to the never-before-seen monster, Hirabami. These massive Leviathans have sail-like membranes that allow them to glide through the air, striking with their razor-sharp tails. The trailer also teased the return of fan-favorite monsters Nerscylla and Gore Magala, alongside the formidable flagship monster, Arkveld.
Second Open Beta Test Announced with New Features!
The second open beta test will take place in two phases:
⚫︎ February 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM PT – February 9, 2025, at 6:59 PM PT
⚫︎ February 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM PT – February 16, 2025, at 6:59 PM PT
Take on the New Wyvern, Arkveld!
Fight against the game’s flagship monster, Arkveld, in a new Special Advanced Quest available during the beta! Test your skills against the unique wyvern, which will be accessible after completing the beta’s Story Trial and succeeding hunts. Additionally, the second beta test also has a quest to fight the Gypceros, a returning wyvern known for its trickery and fake-outs.
The second beta also includes the Training Area, which allows players to practice the moveset of their desired weapons. It also features an Online Single Player Mode, where players can opt to go solo and not join an online lobby.
This allows players to play through the beta solo without being forced into a lobby, as opposed to the previous beta, while still being able to access the game’s multiplayer functionalities if they want to.
Returning Features from the First Open Beta
The second beta will still include the following features from the first open beta test:
⚫︎ Character Creation
⚫︎ Story Trial
⚫︎ Doshaguma Hunt
Players will need to complete these in order to access the newly announced quests in the second beta.
Progression & Rewards
In addition to these features, character data from the first open beta test can be transferred to the upcoming beta test. Take note, however, that this only transfers the character’s appearance data and not the progression from the previous beta. This is also the case in the game’s full release, where you can only transfer your character data only.
Players who participate in the beta will be rewarded with an exclusive Felyne Teddy Pendant, an attachable ornament to either your Seikret or your weapons, and an Item Pack in the full game.
All New and Improved Cosmetic Personalizations!
Cosmetic Elements
Monster Hunter Wilds also marks the return of layered armor for both your Hunter and Palico with a slight quality-of-life change. This feature lets you equip any registered high-rank armor you've crafted without affecting your stats, allowing for full aesthetic customization. The new change in Wilds is that crafting the high-rank armor set automatically registers as a layered armor option.
Additionally, you can personalize your Seikret by changing its color and decorations. Even your pop-up camps can be customized, from camping chairs to the background music, letting you create a truly unique hunting experience.
Hunter Profile
Guild Cards are a thing of the past—Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the Hunter Profile, a new and more customizable way to showcase your personality. With expanded features and creative decoration options, you can personalize your profile to stand out and make it truly your own.
New and Improved Photo Mode!
Capture your most thrilling moments with Monster Hunter Wilds' new and improved Photo Mode! Featuring enhanced camera controls like adjustable angles, depth of field, and even the ability to pause the game in Online Single Player Mode!

Downloadable Content
In addition to the previously revealed pre-order bonuses and cosmetics, there are new DLC coming on the game's release. Players with a Capcom ID can claim free item packs after registration to help them on their journey.
The game will also include Character and Palico edit vouchers, similar to Monster Hunter: World, allowing players to modify their characters even after creation. While some of these vouchers will be given for free, additional vouchers can be purchased on release. Lastly, classic gestures, sticker packs, and other Hunter Profile specific content will also be included.
