Marvel Rivals Changes and New Contents for Season 1 Second Half
Marvel Rivals New Characters Releases on February 21, 2025
NetEase revealed the biggest changes for the upcoming second half of Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, including the debut of Human Torch and The Thing and a rank reset, in a blog post on February 11, 2025.
The Fantastic Four lineup will be complete in the second half of Marvel Rivals Season 1 on February 21, 2025, with the debut of Human Torch (Duelist) and The Thing (Vanguard). NetEase is also planning a major balance adjustment as they "are expected to shake up the battlefield during the second half of Season 1." Some superheroes will be buffed or nerfed, depending on these upcoming characters. However, details on the upcoming balance adjustments are still under wraps.
Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman previously debuted in the first half of Marvel Rivals Season 1 as Duelist and Strategist, respectively. The game’s first season also includes three new maps, special events, and a new game mode, Doom Match.
Each season lasts three months and is divided into two halves, with each half introducing a new hero. This current season’s story focuses on vampires, with Count Vlad Dracula as its main villain, and adds Marvel’s first family or its first-ever superhero group, the Fantastic Four.
Player Rank Drops Four Division After Rank Reset
These upcoming contents and changes to Season 1 prompted NetEase to rest player ranks as well. "We will be introducing additional rank reset to better align with the upcoming content and changes!" The dev also revealed rewards once the first half concluded.
According to them, players’ rank will drop four divisions below after the rank reset. "For example, if you ended the first half of Season 1 at Diamond I, you’ll start the second half at Platinum II."
Additionally, players at Gold rank or above will receive a new costume, "along with brand new Crests of Honor." Each crest will have their own design, depending on their rank. Currently, crests will be given to players at Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All. These rewards can be obtained after a player has completed at least 10 matches in competitive mode.
NetEase also revealed that players will drop six divisions after an entire season concludes, with a four-division drop in the second half. However, the dev also mentioned that they will adjust the division drop if necessary.
