inZOI Developers Aims To Strengthen Internal Review Processes In The Future
As the Early Access of inZOI continues to reveal more things about the game, fans have noticed a disturbing feature that lets players run over children with their vehicles. In a post on inZOI’s subreddit on March 28 titled "I don't think that Krafton realizes that you can run over children in inZOI", a player showed footage where they ran over a child using a car, which made the kid fly over a great distance. The sheer power of the impact sent the child ragdolling, and eventually passing away.
Although the developers have previously mentioned in the inZOI Online Showcase that there would be multiple ways for them to kill off Zois, including getting run over by a car, they never mentioned that this would also apply to children as well. Speaking to Eurogamer, a Krafton spokesperson made a statement on March 28 and said that this was an unintended bug and has been resolved in the latest patch.
The statement reads, "These depictions are highly inappropriate and do not reflect the intent and values of inZOI. We understand the seriousness of this matter and age-appropriate content and we are strengthening our internal review processes to prevent similar incidents in the future." Krafton removing this "bug" would be appropriate, as inZOI has an ESRB rating of T for Teen, and keeping the game with this feature may warrant them to receive a stricter age rating.
inZOI Director Admits Realistic Style Makes It Hard For Goofing Around In-Game
inZOI currently enjoys a "Very Positive" review rating on Steam, mostly pointing out how detailed and high-quality the game is. However, inZOI’s Game Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim told PCGamesN on March 31 that their hyper-realistic approach has its drawbacks.
Kjun said, "This was something we thought about a lot. With such realistic graphics, we constantly questioned how far we should take that realism. At times, we wanted to incorporate comical or lighthearted elements, but they didn’t quite fit with the grounded visuals, which was a bit disappointing sometimes."
Kjun previously mentioned its admiration for The Sims 4, pointing out its charming goofiness as its identity over other games in the genre. With inZOI’s realistic style, developers found it difficult to incorporate the goofy elements that The Sims 4 has. Despite this, Kjun believes that their approach to inZOI has its clear advantages. He explained, "We believe this level of immersive graphics will resonate with players and, throughout development, we’ve felt both proud and excited to bring this world to life."
There is no doubt that inZOI trumps The Sims 4 in terms of detail and quality, but it seems that the developers are still looking for the game’s identity to solidify itself as a worthy competitor against the life-sim giant. inZOI Players Loving Their Romance Experiences
inZOI’s Early Access launch is off to a great start, reaching an all-time peak of 87,377 concurrent players just four days since its release. One of the topics online that players have discussed is their romance experiences, pointing out their unpredictability and sometimes funny and dark encounters.
Posted on inZOI’s subreddit on March 30, a player shared their romantic encounter with their Zoi’s date, who had brought flowers to them. They added that their date only visits them after work hours, showing how much attention to detail inZOI has with its realism.
However, not all encounters can be considered romantic. Shared under the same post, a player said that after their wedding, their partner died slipping in the bathroom three days later. Another said that their date gave them a rock. It seems that not everyone is living up to their romantic dreams, but inZOI’s random nature in these scenarios is something players are growing fond of.
inZOI is now available for Early Access on PC. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for its full launch. As of writing, the release date for its full release is still unknown. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
