New HoYoverse Game Possibly In The Works

Honkai Nexus Anima Filed For Trademark

HoYoverse looks to expand its Honkai universe with a possible new game from the series. Chinese game developer miHoYo and its global subsidiary HoYoverse applied for a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima". Although there is no further information regarding this new IP, its name suggests it may be the third game in their Honkai series, following Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.

The application for Honkai Nexus Anima was seen online at Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website, which was later taken down. However, their U.S. trademark is posted on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.

The Honkai games first started with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG deemed as the spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, which is a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter game. Following this, they released Honkai Star Rail in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game with turn-based gameplay.

Despite both games sharing the same theme with their affinity to space and sometimes even character likenesses, they play out in separate universes and tell their own stories. Fans speculate that Honkai Nexus Anima could be following suit while having a different genre as well, given miHoYo’s diverse portfolio.

New Twitter (X) Accounts

Following the game’s trademarks, fans noticed new accounts under the Honkai Nexus Anima name appeared on Twitter (X). These names follow the same pattern, having "HonkaiNA" followed by some unique identifier, possibly indicating regions.

New accounts include "@HonkaiNA", "@HonkaiNA_RU", "@HonkaiNA_FR", and more. HoYoverse may have done this to secure social media usernames, which is a typical practice for games to have consistent branding across all social media platforms and sites.

miHoYo Recent Job Postings

Image

Earlier this year, miHoYo posted multiple job listings, which gave fans a glimpse of what the company is working on. According to GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, they are working on an "auto-chess" game, where players can use "Destined Spirits" in battle. It is worth noting that there is no direct access to the original job listing, and that these remain as speculations as of writing.

Although HoYoverse has yet to officially confirm speculations or announce the game, fans have linked Honkai Nexus Anima to the job listings for the auto-chess game. Despite no official announcements being made, many expect that miHoYo’s upcoming project would become a hit given their track record for Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, and more.
