Hades 2 just released its second major update titled The Warsong, bringing the god of war Ares into the fray, as well as more content. Read on to find out what else is in store for players in this huge update!
Hades 2 Releases Warsong Update
The God Of War, Ares, Has Arrived
Roguelike dungeon crawler sequel Hades II has launched its second major patch, titled The Warsong Update, which brings protagonist Melinoë to the "Final Confrontation" beyond the Guardian of Olympus, as well as introducing the bloodthirsty god of war Ares into the fray as well as his Boons that will sure to add a new kind of spice into your playthrough.
Aside from the introduction of the war god, highlights include a new animal familiar, new foes to conquer, an updated Altar of Ashes with new art and Arcana effects, over 2,000 new voice lines and new events to encounter. Players can even take time off from endless dungeon crawling to relax in the Crossroads, listen to all-new soundtracks, or to sing a melodic duet with Artemis herself.
Planning Ahead For The Third Major Update
Even with Warsong just freshly released, developer Supergiant Games is already planning out the third big update that is scheduled to be revealed "some months from now" as detailed in their Steam news post. Hades II will continue to be in Early Access for the time being as the devs have stated that "it’s still too early to share our plans beyond that, including when our v1.0 launch will be." However, the full release may be out sooner than later as they have also said that the core structure of both the Underworld and the Surface routes are now basically complete and they are now focusing on filling and fleshing out more of what is already in the game.
After all of The Warsong Update’s post-launch patches have been released, they will be focusing on the following initiatives:
⚫︎ Hidden Aspects: the Nocturnal Arms still have undiscovered secrets that must be uncovered, and the team is planning for them to be wielded by the player eventually.
⚫︎ Enhanced Guardians: boss battles are integral to the overall Hades II experience, and thus will be tweaked "to be able to challenge and surprise" even more.
⚫︎ Expanded Story: the rest of Melinoë’s story is being planned ahead already, as well as building up on various inter-character relationships and subplots.
Supergiant Games concluded the post with a huge thank you to all their players. "In the meantime, thank you very much for playing Hades II! You're helping us get closer to achieving our goal of making our first-ever sequel our biggest, most replayable game yet, and a worthy successor to the original Hades that's filled with its own surprises and special touches."
