GTA 6 May Come To PC In The Future

GTA 6 on PC Unconfirmed, But Take-Two Shows Interest

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has yet to be announced for PC but is seemingly teased for its eventual PC release. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke with IGN on February 10, 2025, and shared his thoughts on the platforms their games are released in.

Zelnick stated that their upcoming game Civilization 7 would be available on console and PC at launch but regarding other games in their lineup, they tend not to go on all platforms simultaneously. He explained, "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms."

GTA 5 was first released in September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, then in November 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was eventually released for PC in April 2015. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 was first released in October 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then on PC in November 2019.

Although they have not confirmed GTA 6 being released on PC, Zelnick's statements pointed at the company having interest and eventually bringing the game to PC. Big titles such as games from the Grand Theft Auto series usually come to PC eventually, but fans had hoped that GTA 6 would be big enough for it to have a PC release at launch.

Take-Two Confident About GTA 6 Sales Across All Platforms

Zelnick discussed the growing importance of the PC as a platform for their games and said that a PC version of a multiplatform game can generate up to 40% of its overall sales. He also pointed out, "We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue."

Despite reports of console sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S going downward, Zelnick remained confident that GTA 6 would still sell well on these platforms and would also help drive console sales for Sony and Xbox. According to him, "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles."

He added "And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC."

GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025, but there are no official announcements regarding a specific release date for the game. Check out our Grand Theft Auto 6 page to stay up to date with the latest information about the game.

More Take-Two and Rockstar Games Possibly Releasing on Switch 2

In the recent Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick expressed their interest in taking their games to the Switch 2 console. "We've had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo, and we've supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release," he said.

Their outlook has changed as Nintendo originally was geared towards a younger audience, but now "the Switch device can support any audience." With the upcoming release of Civilization 7, Zelnick stated "As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
