Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes

Only Available To Testers

Larian rolls out an update to the Patch 8 Stress Test build that fixes several bugs, crashes, and scripting errors, and while also making sure that Gale is properly consuming magical items as intended. Please note that only those with access to the Patch 8 stress test will have the update ready for download on their specified console. Non-testers will have to wait for the full, fixed patch to release before getting all the new improvements and content.

Some highlights include containers inside inventories to actually keep their contents when destroyed, screenshotting in Photo Mode made easier for Steam Deck users, tweaks for more responsive poses, better cross-play functionality, updated values for the Booming Blade tooltip when cast, and several crash issues. For a complete list of the improvements the update brings, check out the Baldur’s Gate 3 official website’s news announcements for more information.

As supposedly one of the "final" feature-heavy updates from Larian before the team bids goodbye to the world of Faerûn, Patch 8 is set to be one massive major patch, hence the need for stress testing. Included with the patch is platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses to play with such as a Death Domain Cleric, a Path of Giants Barbarian, and an Arcane Archer Fighter to name a few, and the highly-anticipated Photo Mode.

Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be

While waiting for the official Patch 8 to arrive, players can check out the in-depth sneak peek video into how to make use of the upcoming Photo Mode to its full potential. After all, Larian wishes for all players to get the "Absolute most out of Photo Mode from the start."

Photo Mode can be accessed almost anytime, anywhere—while adventuring, while in combat, and even in multiplayer by the host player. Companions and characters can be set up to pose just the way you imagine it to be, with or without party members, or add even more characters to the photo like a jumping frog that takes half the screen. The free-moving camera is an extra treat as it enables players to get that picture-perfect angle.

Afterwards, you can slap on some post-processing effects, stickers, and frames to make it even more special. However, take note that while in dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, the player will only be allowed to add post-process effects and will not be able to manipulate the poses.

And this sneak peek is only the beginning, as Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to teach players more ways to further bring out the creativity of the player base’s budding photographers.
