All Changes Made in Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster
Vastly Improved Audiovisuals
Graphics Comparison
One of the main changes that Suikoden 1&2 HD Remaster will have is the improved graphics of the environment, sprites, and more. Check out the images above for the comparison between the original and the remaster.
UI and Audio Design Overhaul
The UI for both combat and other menus was also overhauled in the remaster, boasting a sleeker and cleaner look compared to the original game. Additionally, the game’s audio design was also improved for the remaster to emphasize the game’s environment and exploration.
Gameplay Changes and Features
Quicker Battles
The remaster will include an option to change the battle speed of combat, where you can speed up the effects and actions in combat. They also included a one-button setting for the Auto battle command as well.
Accessible Dialogue and Character Logs
One of the much-needed features that the remaster has is the dialogue and character logs. Players will be able to revisit specific story events, dialogue, and more to keep track of information.
Ability to Dash Immediately
In the remastered versions of both games, players can dash by default from the very start.
Moreover, Suikoden 1 HD Remaster includes a dash option in towns and cities immediately at the start of the game. In the original version of Suikoden 1, players needed to equip a character with the Holy Orb to unlock the ability to Dash.
8-Way Movement
Both the remasters to Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 feature 8-way movement allowing the player to move diagonally during exploration. Additionally, this also features slightly altered animations while running.
Auto-Save
The remasters also feature auto-save when entering certain rooms. Take note, however, that saving in the game is still the same with the original where you can only save on Journeyman Crystals and Inns.
Added Difficulty Levels
The remaster now includes three different difficulty levels for players to choose from: Easy, Normal, Hard. These difficulty levels affect enemy HP and damage, so players can choose a setting that they're most comfortable with. It's important to note that starting on Hard mode will lock the player into the difficulty setting, meaning that players cannot switch back to Normal or Easy afterwards.
Stopping the Event Timer for Suikoden 2
A particular event concerning Clive's questline is time-sensitive, where players should arrive to Sajah Village in 20 hours. The remaster added the option to stop the event timer altogether, so that players can take their time in enjoying the game and not be pressured into finishing his questline.
Optimized Loading Times
As the game is being ported to next-generation and current-gen consoles and systems, Konami improved the game’s loading times and compatibility. Scene transitions in the remastered versions have briefer loading times.
