Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that Diablo 4 will not launch on PC or Xbox Game Pass. Discover the possible reason behind Blizzard's statement!
Diablo IV Not Available on Xbox Game Pass
Senior vice president of Activision Blizzard, Rod Fergusson, confirmed on his personal Twitter that Diablo IV won't be coming to Xbox Game Pass, announcing that Blizzard currently has "no plans" to add the dark-fantasy adventure RPG to the subscription service.
Some fans may have expected Diablo IV to be included in Xbox Game Pass due to Microsoft's intent to purchase Activision Blizzard for nearly $70 billion. However, the deal hasn’t been officially approved and is currently undergoing investigations by anti-competition authorities. Until the acquisition closes, Activision Blizzard is still an independent company.
Keep in mind that having "no plans" does not imply that something won't occur in the future. Blizzard might be merely attempting to quell the rumors in order to divert gamers' attention to the game's launch date instead.
Microsoft might use its influence to acquire Activision Blizzard since the deal doesn’t really show any signs of falling through despite major concerns from the regulators. Should the merger go through, we can expect Microsoft to add Activision Blizzard’s existing library to the Game Pass such as Overwatch 2, Crash Bandicoot, and a future Call of Duty game.
On an unrelated note, gamers who pre-ordered Diablo 4 can participate in the Early Access Beta, which runs from March 17 to March 19, 2023. It will be followed by the game’s open beta, starting on March 24 to March 26.
