SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS Overview
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is a bundle of two 3D action platformer games: a Remaster of the original Sonic Generations game from 2011; and Shadow Generations, a new campaign starring Shadow the Hedgehog that continued the ‘Year of the Shadow’ celebration throughout 2024– of which culminated at the end of the year with the release of the 3rd Sonic the Hedgehog movie featuring the iconic Shadow. SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS was released on October 25, 2025 for the PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, where it was developed by the Sonic Team and published by SEGA
Players can faithfully relieve the events of the original Sonic Generations game, wherein Sonic the Hedgehog is transported back in time to meet a past version of himself, among other familiar faces. The two old and younger Sonics must work together to stop the Time Eater which is disrupting the timeline and find normalcy in both worlds.
Shadow Generations takes place concurrently with Sonic Generations, and follows Shadow on the other side as he confronts Black Doom, one of his original creators. The two are caught in the Time Eaters' powers and are transported all throughout the past and present, transporting Shadow across time, vying to put a stop to Black Doom, and discovering a chance to save someone from his past.

SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS Gameplay
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is a 2D and 3D Action Adventure Platformer, where gameplay can switch between the classic 2D platformer game, or 3D action adventure game. Players controlling Sonic will be travelling multiple 2D or 3D levels, dodging obstacles, accelerating and going fast while collecting coins, attacking enemies with the spin-dash or spin-jumps. As Shadow, he is able to attain various power-ups from different anomalies in the field due to the unstable timelines. His ultimate ability, Chaos Control, requires a meter to be filled up as he defeats enemies, and once activated, allows him to completely freeze time, stopping objects and allowing alternate paths.
