Abyssal Dawn Event Takes Snowbreak to New Peaks
And It Isn’t Even Its Anniversary Yet
It’s been a while since we’ve covered any Snowbreak: Containment Zone content. While I’ve been dipping in and out of the game depending on the update content (I definitely didn’t miss the one with Lyfe and Fenny’s new exosuits), that doesn’t mean the game itself has slowed down. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Ever since the Snowbreak team fully committed to delivering content their audience actually wants, the game has steadily gained popularity—at least within its niche. They’ve added a wide range of interactive ways to engage with the in-game characters, including through side stories, base events, and others. They’ve even accelerated their update schedule, all while releasing content that doesn’t pressure players into spending more.
The latest version, Abyssal Dawn, which will run from April 17 to May 29, 2025, really shows their continued commitment. From what we’ve seen, it’s packed with free-to-play-friendly content, including a free 5-star character and her full loadout, as well as new features that lean into immersion and a romance-centered narrative.
The New Operative Scoop
Nerida – Styx Envoy
Kicking off Snowbreak: Containment Zone’s Abyssal Dawn update is Nerida with her first exosuit, Styx Envoy. She’s a 5-star Chaos-type assault rifle user with mixed damage capabilities. Her kit revolves around stacking Internal Injury on enemies—either by applying it herself through her Standard Skill, or through any Chaos-type damage, including that of her allies', during her Ultimate Skill.
She plays like a main DPS, needing significant field time to make the most of her kit. Her ideal rotation involves stacking Internal Injury via her Standard and Ultimate Skills, and then detonating those stacks with her alternate Standard Skill for burst damage.
Because of this setup, her best teammates are other Chaos-type operators like Marian – Riptide or Cherno – Enigma, as well as support units like Eatchel – The Cub, who can maximize the effect of her Ultimate.
Nerida – Styx Envoy will be available for the entire duration of Abyssal Dawn, from April 17 to May 29, 2025.
Nita – Pulse
Also making her playable debut is Nita with her exosuit, Pulse. She’s a Thermal-type shotgun user who serves as a main, skill-based DPS. Her kit introduces a brand-new QTE mechanic, letting players rack up massive damage modifiers by successfully chaining the correct inputs.
As you might expect, this QTE system adds an entirely new layer of engagement to the typical third-person shooter RPG formula. It plays like a rhythm minigame embedded into every fight, complete with visuals showing a more up-close-and-personal way of taking down enemies—by punching them in the face.
That said, you can’t actually get Nita – Pulse, or her weapon, through gacha. Everything you need to fully build her—her signature weapon, Logistics Squad (gear), and even all the duplicates needed to max her out—is available completely for free.

As mentioned previously, not a single cent needs to be spent to get Nita – Pulse. Players simply need to take part in [Pulse Puzzles], a permanent in-game event that tasks you with solving puzzles scattered across various areas of the game—all designed to help you get to know her. It’s got a dating sim-style progression, and you’ll unlock a free copy of Nita – Pulse once you complete every puzzle.
Nita’s Invitation Lets You Max Her Out
To fully max her out, the [Nita’s Invitation] event will grant her fully-modded signature weapon, a maxed-out Auctus Drive for increasing her Manifestation, and her exclusive Logistics Squad with fixed talents tailored specifically for her. In other words, this event gives you everything you need to raise Nita – Pulse into her strongest possible form.
This rollout is a perfect example of the Snowbreak team delivering F2P-friendly content. It also builds on their earlier promise to "never create content that Snowbreak’s core players dislike"—a promise they’ve consistently upheld since last year.

Dawn’s Command
Nerida will debut not only with her Styx Envoy exosuit, but also with a new outfit for it: Dawn’s Command—a sharp, military-style uniform featuring customizable footwear and legwear, similar in concept to Vidya – Agave’s Plumed Beauty outfit. Her costume accentuates her chest, waist, and, most importantly, her legs very well in this high quality skin available for purchase until the end of the event.
Sylvan Spirit
Nita will also make her debut with a new outfit—a forest nymph-themed skin that leans into a revealing yet whimsical aesthetic. The almost ethereal visuals offer a striking contrast to Nita’s outgoing personality, highlighting her charm in a way that feels both playful and fitting. This skin can be purchased as a bundle with an exclusive Interactable Scene, Grove of Secrets, where players can join Nita on a wild, mysterious adventure to deepen their bond and uncover new layers of her character.
Classy Elegancy
Katya’s Dawnwing exosuit gets another skin since she took on a swimsuit and a performer’s outfit last year. This time, she’s slipping into a classy qipao that puts emphasis on her back, legs, and chest, while flaunting some seriously intricate detailing along her feet, thighs, and waistline. Her elegant ponytail drapes just enough to give an alluring glimpse of her exposed back, completing the look with style. Naturally, as a proud qipao enthusiast and a firm believer in the power of asymmetric stockings, this design gets my highest possible recommendation.
Vitality Checkup
Next up is a new outfit for Bubu’s The Geomancer exosuit—one that highlights her bubbly charm in a surprisingly provocative way. Dressed in a white and pink professional uniform, she looks every bit the attentive caretaker, ready to tend to your every need with a smile. Honestly, just one look is enough to make you feel like all’s right in the world.
Nitro Nova
For this season’s Battle Pass rewards, we have a skin for my second favorite character (right below Lyfe) in the game, Fenny. This time, she appears as a race queen with a gorgeous splash art and outfit that accentuates her legs and arms; in other words, the best costume on the second best character, so you can be sure I'll be getting it. It will be available for her latest 5-star exosuit, the Starshine, via the Abyssal Pass that will run from April 17, 2025 to May 29, 2025.
Tidy Marksmaid
Yao’s original 5-star exosuit is getting a fresh new look—and this time, she’s dressed to serve… assuming she can stay awake. That’s right, Yao steps into a classic maid outfit, blending sleepy elegance with just the right touch of charm. However, this skin is meant to be a supplemental reward, not as an outfit obtainable by regular means. It’s exclusive to the highest tier of the game's spending milestones. That said, if you already own Yao – Winter Solstice’s swimsuit skin, this new outfit will be granted automatically. It's a lovely bonus that showcases Snowbreak’s top-tier character design and skin quality.
New Modes!
Emotional Purge
Personally, I’m pretty excited about [Emotional Purge]—a cover-shooter gameplay mode that also happens to feature some... saucy camera angles. It’s a more laid-back take on Snowbreak: Containment Zone’s usual gameplay, focusing on a mouse-centric combat experience instead of juggling both mouse and keyboard.
The mode will also feature various physics-based visuals and including cover-vaulting mechanics, all coming together to create a grounded yet flashy experience. Definitely one to watch if you're into immersive third-person gunplay—with a little flair on the side.
Let’s Go, Heimdall!
Oh, and there’s also [Let’s Go, Heimdall!], a fun hide-and-seek event where three players hunt down twelve hiding ones, Prop Hunt–style. Basically, you disguise yourself as various doodads and blend into the background, hoping your enemies don’t have photographic memories and spot the one extra cup on the table among a dozen.
Hopefully, the developers find a way to make it permanent—this kind of content has a way of sucking people in for ungodly amounts of time.
