Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia
Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most anticipated games in recent years, and people are eager to get their hands on it. The long wait may finally be over as Silksong will have a playable version available at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new playable version of Silksong may be far different from its demo back on E3 in 2019, which many considered as a "proof of concept"l; more than anything.
ACMI will hold a video games exhibition called Game Worlds starting on September 18, 2025 until February 8, 2026. The exhibit will feature several titles, such as World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s own Hollow Knight: Silksong. These games will have exclusive custom builds and will showcase original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects.
Speaking with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell shared their thoughts on Silksong being part of their upcoming exhibit. They said, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Since it was first announced in 2019, information about Silksong has been scarce, with fans scouring for rumors and speculations on its release date and other details. ACMI looks to end this long drought, providing more details on Silksong in the Game Worlds exhibit.
The ACMI co-curators revealed that the exhibit will delve deeper into the world of Hollow Knight’s sequel. They explained, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
Although the Australian event could indicate Silksong’s launch window, no official announcements have been made regarding the game’s actual release date. Last month, Silksong made a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct and confirmed its release window of 2025.Since the exhibit ends in 2026, eager players can only hope that Silksong will release sometime this September, or within the exhbit’s run window.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
