Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Looking Into Switch 2 Port
Says It "Could Be Interesting"
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s success may prompt developer Sandfall Interactive to release on Switch 2. During an interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche shared the studio’s plans after their impressive launch.
He stated that the game’s accomplishments "changes everything," and the team is discussing their next moves. Broche said, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything."
When asked about the possibility of a Switch 2 release, he mentioned that they are receiving multiple opportunities right now and are still figuring out what to go for. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," Broche explained.
With Switch 2’s upcoming launch, it seems appropriate that the top-rated game of the year so far also comes on the hottest handheld console. Regardless, fans just have to wait and see if they can play the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo’s new device eventually.
No Official Merchandise…Yet!
With that said, requests and opportunities are coming to Sandfall Interactive like wildfire, and one of those requests is the release of an official plush of a beloved character, Esquie. They noted to fans that they have yet to create official merchandise for the game, and warned them of fake merchandise being sold on the internet. In a Twitter (X) post on May 14, they noticed that suspicious sites are selling Esquie plushies, and stated, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They also said many of these bootleg merchandise items use AI-generated artwork, which Sandfall strongly recommends against buying. Furthermore, they may also turn out to be a scam. However, they noted that they are looking to make official Esquie plushies.
The post reads, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
Fans can’t get enough of Expedition 33, and based on Sandfall’s recent tweet, they will be treated with the game’s official merchandise.
