⚫︎ Pokémon Champions Features Cross Platform Battles For Mobile and Switch (Game8)
⚫︎ Pokémon Champions was announced at Pokemon Day February 2025. (Game8)
Pokémon Champions Overview
Pokémon Champions is an upcoming multiplayer game announced during the Pokémon Day showcase on February 27, 2025. Developed collaboratively by Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, the game focuses exclusively on Pokémon battles. It is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch family of systems, including the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as on Android and iOS platforms.
The game’s announcement trailer emphasizes cross-platform play, facilitating battles between users on different devices. This approach is expected to create a unified and official competitive environment for the competitive Pokémon community to test team compositions and strategies.
The official website confirms the game will feature both Ranked and Casual Battles, mirroring the established online and private battle modes of the mainline Pokémon series. So, following the precedent set by titles such as Pokémon Stadium, there's a chance Pokémon Champions may become the standard software for official Pokémon VGC events.

Pokémon Champions Gameplay
Pokémon Champions centers exclusively on Pokémon battles. It utilizes established mechanics such as Pokémon ty[es, abilities, and moves and is expected to be an official way for competitive Pokémon players to test team compositions and strategies. While the full extent of Pokémon Champions’ features is still under development, the game’s website does mention a Ranked and Casual Mode.
It will also integrate Pokémon Home, so players can simply import their Pokémon from titles such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as Pokémon GO. There are restrictions, however; not all Pokémon will be transferable to Pokémon Champions, and those obtained within the game cannot be transferred back to Pokémon Home.
